A DORSET couple has opened a unique seaweed spa with a partnership from the National Trust.

Jade and Dan Scott own Sae Seaweed, a new relaxing seaweed spa at Studland.

The couple also sells handpicked seaweed products such as scrubs and masks, made from handpicked seaweed by divers at adventure company Fore/Adventure.

The spa offers two baths filled with fresh seaweed and water at a warm temperature of 37 to 38 degrees.

Speaking on the decision to open the spa, Jade said: “Our journey into the world of seaweed started 14 years ago after a move to Dorset with our four-month-old baby.

“We secured a lease with the National Trust for a hut on Middle Beach in Studland and launched our outdoor activity business Fore / Adventure, later adding two more children to our brood.

“Our love for nature is at the centre of what we do and we are passionate about sharing our knowledge of wild plants on the land and sea.”

"The seaweed used in the spa is hand-harvested by our partners Fore / Adventure along the Dorset Coast. Sustainable methods are used in line with their seaweed foraging licence awarded by the Crown Estate in partnership with Natural England."

Jade added; “Dorset has captured our hearts and our love for nature is at the centre of what we do.

"Our interest in seaweed has grown over the years that we have been running our adventures and foraging and feasting courses in Dorset.

"In 2020 we obtained a licence from the crown estate to sustainably hand harvest wild seaweed commercially and since then we have been exploring the properties of this magic ingredient further."

Speaking on the importance of seaweed, she added: “Seaweed is fantastic to bathe in for your skin, naturally rich in antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins, the health benefits are endless, and have been used for Thalassotherapy for centuries to treat complaints like eczema, and psoriasis and to reduce muscular pain.”

The seaweed spa can be found at Middle Beach, Studland.
