A SUMMER ban on cycling, skating, skateboarding and e-scooters on the promenade during the day comes into force next week.
Bikes, skates, skateboards and e-scooters won’t be allowed on the prom in Bournemouth and Poole between 10am and 6pm from Monday, July 1.
The measures, which come into effect annually, will be in place daily during July and August.
BCP Council warns cycling on the seafront when the ban is in place could lead to prosecution.
It includes the use of Beryl Bikes and e-scooters.
Privately-owned e-scooters are not allowed on the promenade, paths and public roads at any time. Failure to comply, risks confiscation and prosecution by the police.
People using bikes, skates, skateboards and e-scooters outside the summer ban are reminded they must give way to pedestrians as they have the right of way.
They should also keep their speed below 10mph and slow down.
When it’s busy, people must dismount from bikes and walk instead.
Areas where people cannot cycle include all zigzag paths leading from the clifftop to the promenade, all chines and also in Bournemouth’s Lower and Central Gardens.
