AN arrest has been made following a serious assault outside Lidl in Winton.

Dorset Police received a report at 8.30pm on Monday, June 24, that a man had been assaulted after being approached by a group of four men and a woman near to the junction of Withermoor Road and Wimborne Road, outside of the Lidl store.

The victim, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Following enquiries by detectives, a 33-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

He has been released on police bail as investigative work continues.

Detective inspector Ross McNamee, of BCP CID, said: “We are continuing our enquiries into this incident and I would again urge any witnesses, or anyone who has captured any relevant dashcam footage, to please come forward.”
