TRAFFIC was halted last night after a man was seen sitting on the railings of a railway bridge.
Police officers were alerted to a concern for welfare call after a man was seen near Bournemouth Train Station.
Officers managed to bring him to safety.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 8.25pm on Monday 1 July 2024 raising concern for the welfare of a man on the A338 Wessex Way in Bournemouth.
“It is reported that the man was sitting on the railings of the railway bridge.
“Officers attended and the road was temporarily closed. The man was taken to a place of safety at around 8.40pm.”
Morebus also posted on its social media to warn passengers of delays.
A post on X read: “Due to a closure of the exit in both directions under the flyover m1 5 5a 6 12 13 13a 17 will need to divert in both directions, we will serve Bournemouth Rail Station towards Bournemouth on the wrong side. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
The road was reopened at around 9pm.
