POPULAR local pub the Iford Bridge on Old Bridge Road in Bournemouth, is inviting patrons to go green this month with the launch of East Green - the UK's first carbon neutral cask ale. As an Ember Inns pub, the Iford Bridge is part of the first managed pub group to launch the ale which has been produced by Adnams.
"As a pub manager you get to hear about what matters to your guests and helping to preserve the environment certainly comes high up their agenda," said Ian King, manager of Iford Bridge. "That's why we are absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity to be the first pub group to stock Adnams East Green ale, the UK's first carbon neutral ale."

- PRIMARY school pupils in Dorset have shown they really know their onions when it comes to food, after taking part in a quiz organised by the Dorset County Show.
Six hundred young people aged between six and nine from schools across the region participated in the quiz as part of a project to see how much they know about where their food comes from.
While most kids knew that milk comes from female cows, almost 20 percent of eight-year-olds from Portland thought it came from males, and in Bridport 25 percent of eight-year-olds thought rhubarb was green and blue. Meanwhile in Shaftesbury, 36 per cent of children though fillet steak came from a chicken.
However, overall food knowledge was strong. "We're really pleased by these results, which prove children in the South West are generally in touch with food and how it reaches their plates," explains Sam MacKenzie-Green, Dorset County Show Secretary. "Although of course there were a few funny answers."

You will also have the chance to win a Riverford Organic Fruit and Vegetable Box delivered to your door every week for a year. The Organic Festival will continue until September 21, for more details call 01202 527871.
