THREE people remain on police bail after their arrests were upgraded to murder.

A man in his 60s, who was living in the Russell Court Hotel, died in hospital on July 24, 2023, after being found unconscious in Hinton Road, Bournemouth town centre four days earlier.

Police officers and forensic investigators carried out examinations and enquiries in Hinton Road and Westover Road, at a car park entrance at Bath Hill Roundabout.

Three people, including a 23-year-old woman and two 39-year-old men – all from Bournemouth – were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

But after enquiries by the Echo, the three were later found to be re-arrested on suspicion of murder in April.

Providing an update, a Dorset Police spokesman said: “The three arrested are still released on police bail as enquiries continue.”

The investigation is now being led by detectives from the major crime investigation team to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death, which is still being treated as unexplained.

Mystery surrounds the unnamed man’s death, but detective inspector Mark Jenkins believes he was staying in the Russell Court Hotel between July 12 and July 19 last year.
