TEMPORARY traffic lights have been put on the crossroads between Poole Road and Clarendon Road while 'essential repairs' are carried out.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks began essential repairs at the crossroads between Poole Road and Clarendon Road on July 3 and have installed temporary traffic lights while work continues.

The work has been said to avoid 'potential faults' which would cause localised power cuts with work anticipated to finish before the weekend of 6-7 July.

A spokesperson for SSEN said: "These works and the accompanying traffic management system have been approved by the local council to enable essential repairs to be carried out, which will in turn prevent any potential faults that would result in localised power cuts.

"SSEN engineers are working round the clock to carry this work out as quickly and safely as possible and anticipate its completion ahead of the weekend."

Traffic in the area has been noticeably worse since the works began with delays with vehicles seen queuing in peak hours on St Michael's Roundabout.

Morebus services are affected as a result with buses being diverted.

Heading towards Bournemouth at the Grand Bingo, buses will turn right into Grosvenor Road, left to Marlborough Road, left to Clarendon Road, right to correct route.

This will miss just the Netherhall gardens stop.

Towards Poole, services will turn left at Clarendon Road, right West Cliff Road, right Alum chine Road to Westbourne.

This will miss the Queens Road, Netherhall Gardens, Grosvenor Road and The Westbourne stops.
