A NINE-year-old dancer has won gold for England at the Dance World Cup.

Teddy Holton-Frances, from Bournemouth, represented his country at the World Cup in Prague.

He brought home the gold medal with his classical ballet solo, beating elite dancers from across the world.

Teddy trains at Prompt Corner Academy of Dance, Pure Drama Theatre School and The Royal Ballet School, and competed at the dance competition which sees more than 120,000 children and young people compete.

Representing 62 countries, competitors compete in a range of styles, including ballet, jazz, commercial and lyrical.

Teddy said: “I couldn’t believe it when my name was called as the winner.

“They played the national anthem for me as I received my medal.

“It was so exciting.”

Katie, from Prompt Corner Academy of Dance, added: “We are so very proud of Ted and his achievement, which underscores Prompt Corner academy’s dedication to nurturing talent and fostering a love for the arts among its students.”

Teddy last year appeared in the John Lewis Christmas advert, and was a member of The Phoenix Boys dance group who received a golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent.

He has recently returned from Cape Town where he was filming a feature film alongside Oscar-winning actor and director Sand Rockwell and Gore Verbinski.
