A BOURNEMOUTH couple has recreated a photo from 1974 to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Rick Goodale and Ann-Kathrin Durge have recreated a photo they took in 1974 in a 1961 Corvette in Amsterdam.

The car was owned by Rick who bought it in Wimbledon in 1971 and later took it to Amsterdam.

Rick said he was inspired to buy the car because of the 1960s TV show, Route 66.

Rick said: "I was a member of the British Hot Rod Association and I met this American who asked if I'd like to swap my Austin Healey 3000 for a Corvette.

"He had three Corvettes and I agreed to swap. At the same time, I was I'd also arranged to move to Amsterdam and I met Ann-Kathrin in the Old Bull and Bush in Hampstead.

"She came over to join me and we've been together ever since. The photo was a takeout from a shoot we did in a called Amsterdam Bosch. It since has become a bit of an icon."

Rick and Ann-Kathrin then moved across the world to live in Sweden, Australia and America before settling in Bournemouth.

Wanting to recreate the photo for their 50th anniversary, the couple asked for help from the British Corvette Club who managed to get them in touch with the owner of an almost identical car.

Rick said: "I was put in touch with this lady named Rachel Thorpe in Rye and her dad had a selection of cars but the cream Corvette used to be her mother's.

"We went there, took the photo and since it was put on the Facebook page, the lady who took it has got a lot of reaction from people."

Although one of his favourite cars he's ever owned, he eventually sold it to an Italian in Paris who Rick believed to be a politician.

He said: "I didn't know if I was dealing with the mafia but the arrangement was we deliver the car to Paris.

"We drove it, left it in a lock up and a week later I got a letter of thanks."
