DORSET Council has been recommended to approve plans for a 75 home development in north Dorset.

Plans by Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties to build the new homes on the outskirts of Blandford Forum near New Road in Bryanston have been recommended for approval.

Houses are said not to be over two storeys and 30 per cent will be made affordable and the rest to be sold as market housing.

On the agenda, case officer Robert Lennis said: "It is considered that the applicant has adequately addressed the concerns raised over the course of this application. The proposed layout has a good amount of street trees and landscape mitigation across the entire site.

"The two-storey scale of dwelling is appropriate in this context. The appearance of individual dwellings is of a high quality."

Taylor Wimpey has included planting native trees around the border alongside wetland vegetation in a pond included in the 2.93 hectares of the site.

Bryanston Parish Council alongside some residents have objected to plans suggesting it contains a lack of pavement and pedestrian safety and that errors have been made in labelling the location of plans.

A spokesperson for Bryanston Parish Council said: "This application site is entirely within Bryanston Parish, not Blandford St. Mary Parish.

"We appreciate that this was an error, however, every document and drawing submitted in support of this application uses Blandford St. Mary as the site address.

"Bryanston Parish is an entirely separate entity to Blandford St. Mary and Blandford Forum, and this error is therefore extremely annoying to Bryanston Parish Council and Bryanston.

"It raises issues about the accuracy of the planning application and leaves the applicant open to legal challenge."

Fifteen of the houses have been planned as two-bedroom properties while 37 houses will be made to be three to four-bedroom houses.

Under the section 106 agreement, Taylor Wimpey has also agreed it will pay £24,000 to local services including £6,400 to NHS Primary care services.

Mr Lennis has said plans will have no detrimental impact on neighbouring properties.

Plans will be brought to Dorset Council in the northern area planning committee on July 16.
