POOLE Road has been confirmed to have re-opened by MoreBus after 'essential works' had overrun.

Bournemouth bus company, MoreBus, has confirmed that Poole Road has re-opened after temporary traffic lights had been put on the crossroads between Poole Road and Clarendon Road.

Work began on July 3 and was meant to finish on 6-7 July but had overrun.

A spokesperson for MoreBus said: "Poole Road Westbourne is now open and buses will return to the correct route."

Routes affected, M1, M2, M16, M18, and M20, have returned to usual routes in response to the road's reopening.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks had carried out work to avoid 'potential faults' which would have caused localised power cuts.

Previously to The Daily Echo, a spokesperson for SSEN said: "These works and the accompanying traffic management system have been approved by the local council to enable essential repairs to be carried out, which will in turn prevent any potential faults that would result in localised power cuts.

"SSEN engineers are working round the clock to carry this work out as quickly and safely as possible."

MoreBus had missed stops at Netherhall Gardens, Queens Road, Grosvenor Road and The Westbourne while work was carried out.
