A DORSET Police officer who was sexually assaulted while on duty in Bournemouth has attended the National Bravery Awards.

The event recognises the commitment and sacrifices made by police officers.

On May 22, 2022, PC Chloe Chapman responded to an incident involving two males fighting and reports of a possible stabbing at Winton Recreation Ground.

One of the men dropped his trousers and performed a sex act in front of members of the public.

He began to attack PC Chapman, pulling at her hair, striking out, and grappling at her protective equipment and clothing while licking and kissing her face.

She became trapped in the police vehicle with the violent man, who was reported to have a knife, before she was sexually assaulted.

After multiple attempts, the offender was finally detained after being tackled to the ground by a bystander.

Speaking on the nomination, PC Chloe Chapman said: “It’s a real honour to be nominated.

“I think it’s very important that police officers get acknowledged for the work they do and I think it should happen more often so it’s a real honour being here today and just being nominated.”

Even though PC Chloe Chapman didn’t win, her bravery has not gone unnoticed.

Chloe attended the National Bravery Awards, organised by Police Federation on July 11 in Downing Street, London.
