IN A TIME where several businesses are grappling with a reduced footfall a Bournemouth sports bar says business is booming.

As people across the country celebrate a sporting summer, Sharkey's Sports Bar says it's' at its' absolute max capacity and is considering expanding.

Sharkey's focus is 'all things sport' and is described as a venue with a 'vibrant atmosphere' with 'top notch entertainment.'

Operations manager Morny Anderson said: "There's been lots of places closing down, and we want to bring a bit more life back into the area.

"We have had a really good year with no issues or trouble up our end of Bournemouth, but to be honest we would like to bring a bit more like back into the high street."

Sharkey's is renowned as a sports' hotspot,' featuring 4K screens throughout the venue that play live sports every day. The venue boasts 11 rentable pool tables, darts, table tennis, and VIP rooms with screens and PlayStations.

Morny said: "I think we stand out because we are not an out till four in the morning club. We're open throughout the day, and we close at 1am.

"We are offering something a bit more relaxed, there are actually activities as opposed to just getting drunk and forgetting the night."

The UEFA Euro 2024 tournament has raised Sharkey's popularity, with Morny saying, "When the football is on, we are at absolute max capacity.

"But we want to continue to make ourselves the best we can be. We have an amazing atmosphere for the build ups and the comedowns."

He added: "When the game finishes, it feels like the party's not over and the atmosphere is great."

Morny said that the bar has really clamped down on anti-social behaviour and collaborated with local businesses and authorities through the Bournemouth Town Watch program, which aims to improve public safety and advocates for responsible drinking.

He said: "We are working together and cracking down and helping each other to clear the streets properly.

"We all want the town centre to thrive again because it's been in a bit of disrepair.

"We have grouped together now to try and do what we can."
