POLICE have warned of an increase in farm traffic as the harvest season commences.

As farmers across the county will be gathering their crops to harvest, the public is urged to remain patient on the roads.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police’s Rural Crime Team said: “The time of year has soon come back around, when all our hardworking farmers are out in force, putting in the long hours to feed our nation.

“This is a notice to the public to be patient and careful on the roads, as we expect to see an increase in farm traffic.

“We want people to go home safe every evening, to their friends and families, by taking extra care on our Dorset roads.”

If residents observe any careless driving, people can report potential traffic offences, along with digital evidence such as dash cam footage.

This can be submitted via Operation Snap, on the Dorset police website.

The spokesperson added: “On a final note…thank a farmer if you see one.”
