Bournemouth, with its vibrant coastline and youthful spirit, has long been a hub for nightlife.

Over the decades, the town has played host to a plethora of nightclubs, each with its own unique character and following.

While many of these iconic venues have sadly closed their doors, their legacies live on in the memories of those who experienced their electric atmospheres.

Join us on a trip down memory lane and explore some of Bournemouth's lost nightclub gems.

Along with images of nightspots as they were in the 80s, 90s and 00s are pictures of the same places in recent years.

The Academy

The Academy, Boscombe 1991. Remember when the O2 Academy Bournemouth was The Academy?

It was The Opera House for a spell between the two and was Tiffany's, Bocombe Hippodrome and Grand Theatre beforehand.

 

Maison Royale

Jumpin Jaks

Jumpin Jaks, Bournemouth.

Opened in The Waterfront complex in 1999 and closed ten years later in 2009.

The Waterfront complex was demolished in 2013.

Berlins

The club is now accommodation for university students.

Bumbles

Bumbles nightclub in Bournemouth, 2010.

Now operating as Canvas bar.

Liquids

Liquids, Bournemouth, 2001.

Once part of the Roundhouse Hotel.

Zig Zags

Zig Zag in Fir Vale Road, Bournemouth, pictured here in 1991.

Zig Zag opened in 1984 and closed in 1991 when both itself and the adjacent Clouds nightclub became Cage and Zoo.

The club is now Cameo.
