THE POLICE non-emergency telephone line is out of action as Dorset Police face technical difficulties.

The issue is being investigated as a “matter of urgency”, while the emergency 999 number remains unaffected.

A spokesperson said: “Dorset Police would like to advise members of the public that we are experiencing technical difficulties with the 101 non-emergency telephone number.

“We are looking into the fault as a matter of urgency.

“The emergency number 999 has not been affected. If you, or someone you know is in immediate danger, or you are reporting a crime in progress – please dial 999.

“It is strongly recommended that you report all non-emergency incidents via our website www.dorset.police.uk.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”
