A TEEN cyclist is in hospital with serious injuries after he was in a crash with a car. 

The 17-year-old boy was on an electric bicycle in Ashley Road, near to the junction with Richmond Road in Poole, on Sunday evening, July 14 when the crash happened. 

He collided with a white Nissan Juke at around 5.40pm, prompting a large emergency services response. 

Officers closed the road for about an hour while emergency responders dealt with the incident. 

Meanwhile, the boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His family has been informed. 

Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the traffic unit, said: “We are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police. 

“I would also urge any motorists with relevant dashcam footage to please contact us. 

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
