POLICE have responded to reports of a woman who appeared to be ‘knocked unconscious’ by a man in Charminster.

Dorset Police received a report at 12.50am on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from a third party who had witnessed a man assaulting a woman in Charminster Road outside the Golden Supermarket.

It is believed the man and woman were known to each other.

The woman appeared to be knocked unconscious as a result of the assault before she then got back up, and both parties made off in the direction of Nortoft Road.

Officers investigating the reported assault have issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to identify.

Police Constable Tom Kelly of Bournemouth police said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident, but at this time, we have been unable to identify either the man or the woman involved.

“I am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of a man we would like to identify as part of our investigation and would urge anyone who recognises him to please come forward.

“I would also like to appeal to the woman involved to please get in touch with us, as we want to make sure that you are all right and take your account of what happened.

“Finally, I would urge any witnesses to this reported assault – as well as anyone who may have captured relevant home CCTV or dashcam footage – to please make contact with us.”
