A ROYAL Air Force Chinook helicopter has returned to its base after it became stranded in a field in Dorset.
The 7 Squadron Chinook had completed a precautionary landing in Bere Regis after suffering a technical issue.
The aircraft from RAF Odiham in Hampshire safely returned to its base on July 16.
RAF Odiham shared on social media: “RAF Odiham is pleased to confirm that the 7 Sqn Chinook that completed a precautionary landing in Dorset has safely returned to base.
“We would like to say a huge than you to the landowner and the local population for their support and patience whilst we repaired the aircraft.”
Chinooks can carry up to 55 troops or up to approximately 10 tonnes of mixed cargo and are primarily used for trooping, resupply and battlefield casualty evacuation.
Chinooks have also previously been used as part of the iconic Bournemouth Air Festival.
