FOUR men have been arrested after a stolen car smashed into a wall and lamppost in Poole.

Police were called to Chandos Avenue at around 4.30am on Wednesday, July 17 after reports of the theft of a vehicle.

The vehicle was later located in Haymoor Road at around 4.50am where it collided with a wall and a lamppost.

Residents said they awoke to people shouting and screeching cars before witnessing around eight police cars in the area.

Two men from Bournemouth, aged 19 and 23, along with two men from Poole, aged 18 and 32, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle.

A spokesperson said: “Dorset Police received a report at 4.31am on Wednesday 17 July 2024 of the theft of a vehicle in Chandos Avenue in Poole. Officers attended and carried out searches of the area.

“The vehicle was subsequently located in Haymoor Road at around 4.50am. It is reported that the vehicle collided with a wall and a lamp post.

“Two men from Bournemouth – aged 19 and 23 – and two men from Poole, aged 18 and 32, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

“The vehicle was recovered and road cleared at around 6.45am. No injuries were reported. Enquiries are continuing into the incident.”
