A MOTORBIKE was fished out of Poole Park lake - with it not known how it got there.

BCP Council was reported to have been seen fishing out the Honda motorbike with a large forklift vehicle on Wednesday, July 17 at around 10am.

It is not known how the bike ended up in the water with it first noticed by residents earlier that morning.

Poole resident Kristina Flaherty, 44, said: "I walk my dogs in Poole Park every day and we just walked past and saw a tractor with council workers pulling it out.

"An expensive motorbike in the lake isn't something you see every day.

"There didn't seem to be anyone checking around the lake if anyone was injured. That probably should have been done in my opinion."

Kristina expressed concern about the incident and said it was the second vehicle found abandoned in the park in recent months.

At the beginning of May, a crashed Range Rover was left in Poole Park for several days near the Whitecliff gate entrance.

She said: "Nothing surprises me anymore after we found the Range Rover abandoned by the trees on the other side.

"They actually cut down the tree it hit because of the damage. The boating lake is also full of young ducks so it is worrying that people are using the area to dump vehicles.

"It seems to be a little bit of a trend at the moment so that is quite worrying."

Kristina said there should be more CCTV and security cameras to help make sure those who are leaving vehicles can be caught.

She added: "If they had some CCTV installed they could view what goes on at night and keep the park safe, keep the environment safe and protect the park we all love."

It is unknown how the bike ended up in the lake it is believed the bike was retrieved by the council and did not involve police.

A Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council spokesperson said: “Our team at Poole Park were made aware of a motorbike in the lake early this morning (Wednesday 17 July) and they recovered the bike from the water.

"No oil or fuel entered the lake.”
