REDUCED speed limits will come into effect as more 20mph limits are rolled out.
Some roads in Wimborne town centre will see their speed limits dropped from 30mph to 20mph from July 26.
King Street, East Street and Poole Road in the market town will join Mill Lane, East Borough, West Borough and High Street with the reduced speed limits.
The council said the decision in reducing the speed limit is to “regulate or reduce the speed of vehicles to a level which drivers can readily meet the general dangers which may be expected on these roads”.
Dorset Council launched its public consultation for a new proposed 20mph speed limit across much of Wimborne town centre last October.
Public notices were put on display around the town centre along with Bridport, Langton Matravers, Pimperne and Winfrith.
So far this year there have been 50 communities either applying for or expressing an interest in having a 20mph limit in Dorset.
Five have been agreed with six areas going to public consultation later this year. These are Cheselbourne, Child Okeford, The Causeway at Milborne St Andrew, Okeford Fitzpaine, Winterborne Kingston and Allenview Road and Burts Hill at Wimborne.
