A COLLECTION of Mouseman furniture and other items from a Somerset collector are going under the hammer next month.

More than 30 pieces of the popular furniture will be auctioned off at Charterhouse’s antiques and interiors auction on August 2.

All pieces were collected by the same couple for nearly 50 years, having started in the 1970s.

In the collection, there are two chests of drawers, dining and other tables, a set of chairs, a sideboard, a library armchair, standard and table lamps, a corner cupboard, a bureau, a stool and more.

Richard Bromwell, auctioneer, said: “The owners are looking to move and downsize from their Somerset cottage where they have been for nearly 25 years.

“It is a bit of a wrench for them, but they are being practical and realistic, safe in the knowledge the new owners will enjoy their beloved Mouseman as much as they have.”

Mouseman furniture is made in the workshops of Robert Thompson in Kilburn, North Yorkshire, with oak and all the pieces carry the legendary signature of a carved mouse.
