NEW safety signs are set to be installed along the seafront following recommendations made by the RNLI.
BCP Council has permission to place the signs at locations across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
They are set to include warnings of rip currents, motorboats and windsurfers, guidance for swimming and lifeguards, as well as resort information.
The local authority had requested an audit from the RNLI, which it received back in February 2023.
The report recommended measures to improve safety along the conurbation’s beaches, particularly updating and increasing signage at key points on the beach.
Following the report, BCP Council lodged planning applications for new safety signs across all three towns’ planning portals. All three have now been approved.
It also replaced several public rescue equipment (PRE) housings and life rings on Bournemouth Pier, and began work to install over 100 pieces of new PRE equipment.
