FAST food chain KFC has refused to say if it will go ahead with a new branch in Bournemouth town centre.

Nine months ago, the American fried chicken restaurant was given approval by BCP Council to open a new branch in Lansdowne Crescent.

It would have spread across three units formerly occupied by Mail Boxes Etc, Eaters Pizza and the Immaculate Chaos tattoo shop.

Businesses had to close as a result of the planning application, but nine months on KFC has still not opened a business up.

The Echo has contacted KFC for an update on work for the new restaurant will begin, but it has repeatedly declined to comment if it is going ahead.

Residents and businesses had previously lodged 20 objections to the proposal.

Some of them were from existing businesses, who reported they were contacted by their landlord of more than 14 years asking to leave the building in favour of KFC.

KFC closed its other branch at Royal London House in Lansdowne in July 2022.

A sign on the door addressed to customers states the premises was closed due to “technical reasons”.
