CHRISTCHURCH Town Council is introducing councillor surgeries to ‘support the community’.
The new ‘Meet Your Councillor’ sessions are set to be held monthly at Christchurch Library in High Street.
There will be a minimum of three councillors involved for a trial period of six months, after which the number of councillors, and locations and frequencies of the surgeries, will be reviewed.
Christchurch Town Council agreed to host the surgeries following a full council meeting on July 18.
A report to members said the aim of the meetings was to ‘enhance community engagement and provide residents with direct access to their elected representatives’.
It said: “The surgeries are intended to make councillors more accessible and responsive to the needs of all of our constituents.
"Full council surgeries mean residents will be able to rely on the councillors being accessible in one place, every week at the same time – fostering a stronger and more unwavering relationship.”
