A PROLIFIC shoplifter has been jailed for nearly 20 weeks for theft offences at a Marks and Spencer store.

On July 4, alcohol was stolen from a BP Marks and Spencer Store in Somerford Road, Christchurch.

An investigation opened and a 40-year-old man was arrested in relation to the theft.

Kyril Klimovitch of no-fixed abode was charged with theft from a shop and breach of a restraining order.

Klimovitch attended Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, July 18, where he was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.

A spokesperson for Christchurch police said: “The Christchurch Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) would like to reassure members of the community that they are committed to supporting local businesses who are targeted by offenders and will use all the policing powers at their disposal to bring them before the courts to face justice.”
