A SERIAL shoplifter has been jailed following a spree of offences in Bournemouth.

Dylan Brewer, 42 and of no fixed address, was sentenced for 18 offences of theft from a shop.

He targeted shops and supermarkets in the area of Bournemouth, stealing more than £3000 worth of goods including food, alcohol, health supplements and handbags.

Brewer’s offending occurred over a month-long period, between January 27 and February 27 of this year.

From One Stop in Ripon Road, he stole bottles of cooking oil, tins of tuna, chocolate and laundry aids valued at £200 on February 14, goods to the value of £436.35 on January 28, food and confectionery to the value of £158.24 and alcohol to the value of £270 on February 25, goods to the value of £163.20 on February 10, laundry products valued at £43.20 on February 8, groceries and laundry products valued at £100.50 on January 27, confectionery, food and household items to the value of £229.10 on February 18, and food and household items to the value of £337.50 on February 15.

From Co-op in Charminster Road, he stole goods to the value of £121.50 on February 22, alcohol valued at £83.30 on February 20, and multiple bottles of wine valued at £93.70 and other alcohol valued at £99.40, £111.50 and £95 on February 27.

Brewer also stole supplements valued at £225 from Holland & Barrett in Wimborne Road on February 27, three handbags valued at £59.97 from TK Maxx in Castlepoint shopping centre on February 13, and groceries valued at £200 from Sainsbury’s in Wimborne Road on February 12.

Brewer admitted all the charges against him, and appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court to be sentenced on Tuesday, July 23.

He was jailed for 16 weeks.

A second shoplifter, Rhys Mansell, was also sentenced at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday for his offending.

Mansell, of no fixed address, admitted to four counts of theft from a shop.

He had also targeted One Stop in Ripon Road, stealing goods to the value of 436.35 on January 28, alcohol to the value of £37.50 on January 20, groceries and laundry products to the value of £100.50 on January 27, and laundry detergent valued at £45 on January 29.

He was fined £200.
