AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a woman who died while on holiday in Crete, Greece, with her family.
Sarah Elizabeth Cameron, 46, was taken to hospital following a road traffic collision, where she sadly died.
Area coroner for Dorset, Brendan Allen, opened the inquest into her death at Bournemouth Town Hall on July 25.
Coroner’s officer, Sarah Harrison, told Dorset Coroner’s Court that Sarah was born in Huddersfield West on July 31, 1977.
Her maiden name was Sarah Thomas before marrying her husband, Craig Cameron, who is a traffic signal engineer.
Sarah was a nurse and living at an address on Hathaway Road, Bournemouth, at the time of her death.
Ms Harrison told the court: “Sarah was involved in a road traffic collision while on holiday in Crete, Greece.
“Following the collision, she was taken to Rethymno hospital where she died on July 12.”
She was formally identified by Andrea Scott, a funeral director, using her passport photo.
A post mortem examination conducted by Dr Albadry found Sarah’s provisional cause of death to be caused by severe chest and abdominal injuries.
Mr Allen adjourned the hearing for a pre-inquest review on February 25, 2025.
Statements were requested from Sarah’s family, her GP and from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
The Sun previously reported that the accident happened in the city of Chania, in Crete, however this was not confirmed in court.
