AN ELECTRICITY pylon caught alight at a Swanage campsite, with firefighters and the electricity board called.
The fire service arrived at Washpond Lane, Herston shortly before 1am on July 26 after reports of an incident involving an electricity pylon.
Two crews from Swanage put a cordon in place while awaiting engineers from the electricity board, who isolated the supply to the pylon.
Firefighters left the scene at 2.28am.
Swanage fire station posted on social media: “This evening both pumps were sent to a local campsite after an electricity pylon caught on fire.
“Crews assisted with evacuating a small area of the campsite and putting a safety cordon in place.
“We waited for the arrival of the electricity board who isolated the supply to the pylon.
“After a couple of hours crews returned to station.”
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two crews from Swanage were called to Washpond Lane, Herston at 12.47am this morning to an incident involving an electricity pylon.
“Firefighters put a cordon in place whilst awaiting the arrival of the electricity board and our stop was in at 2.28am.”
