A FORMER Royal Marine who created a transformational animal sanctuary after losing his military dog has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

James Hill has been recognised in the Soldiering On Awards for his work at The Pawseidon Canine Rehabilitation Centre in Poole.

The centre focuses on hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and behavioural issues in dogs.

James was medically discharged after being seriously injured in Afghanistan, where his dog Zero was also killed.

However, after enduring 16 operations and tackling recovery in a hydrotherapy pool, James turned his attention to animals.
