A FIRE tore through a Bournemouth cafe overnight. 

Foodelicious in Wimborne Road, Moordown is shut today (Monday, July 29) following a blaze that has damaged the interior. 

A police cordon is currently outside the building, with one police car parked outside with a forensics unit. 

CSIs are inside carrying out detailed enquiries to establish a cause of the fire. 

Seven fire engines were called to the fire that started at about 1.20am on Monday morning to tackle the blaze.

Posting on social media, the cafe said: “We're closed today until further notice due to the fire we had in the early morning.” 

The account added nobody was injured and that the cause is unknown.

Dorset Police's spokesman said: "Dorset Police received a report at 1.32am on Monday 29 July 2024 from the fire service requesting assistance as it responded to a report of a property fire in Wimborne Road in Bournemouth.

"Officers attended to assist and it was further reported at around 2am that the fire had been extinguished.

"Following enquiries at the scene and liaison with the fire service, it is believed the fire was started deliberately.

"An investigation is being carried out, led by detectives from BCP CID, and a cordon is currently in place to enable an examination of the scene.

"No arrests have been made at this time."

A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service added: "We were called to Wimborne Road, Bournemouth at 1.22am this morning (29 July) for a fire in a terraced property.

"Crews attended from Redhill Park, Westbourne, Springbourne, Christchurch, Poole (x2) and Ferndown, and a fire was located on the ground floor, which is used as a café.

"Four breathing apparatus wearers used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and our stop was at 1.57am, with the last crew leaving the scene at 3.45am.

"One crew from Redhill Park carried out a reinspection shortly after 7am. A fire investigation is now underway."
