A MAN has been jailed after stealing more than £1000 worth of condoms.
Alistair Lees, 35, snatched the condoms from Boots in Christchurch Road during a spree of shopliftings in the Bournemouth area.
Lees, of Westover Road in Bournemouth, also targeted two Co-op stores in the town, and Marks and Spencer in New Milton.
He stole items including alcohol, confectionary, condiments and toiletries.
The defendant appeared at Poole Magistrates Court on Friday, July 26, charged with seven counts of theft from a shop.
Court records show the shoplifting offences had occurred between December 11, 2023, and July 24 of this year.
Lees was also charged with possession of a controlled drug of Class A, namely 0.18 grams of heroin, at police custody in Bournemouth on December 29, 2023, and two counts of failing to surrender to court bail at the appointed time.
He admitted all the charges against him.
Lees was jailed for 48 weeks and ordered to pay compensation of £200.
He was described as ‘operating as a professional criminal’ in court records.
