EMERGENCY services were called to assist a person who had got into difficulty off the coast of Christchurch.
HM Coastguard responded to reports of a person in the water at Avon Beach this afternoon, July 29.
They were alerted to reports of a person who was struggling in the water at 4.15pm.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Lymington and Southbourne and an inshore lifeboat from Mudeford RNLI were sent to the scene.
The person was transferred into the care of the ambulance service.
The Daily Echo has contacted South Western Ambulance Service for more details about the incident.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said:
"We were called at 4.20pm on Monday, July 29, to an incident in Christchurch."
"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances to the scene and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Royal Bournemouth Hospital".”
