A LARGE plume of black smoke was seen rising in Bournemouth and Christchurch.
Firefighters tackled with a large caravan fire at the Bosley Nursery Business Park in Avon Causeway, Hurn on Monday evening, July 29.
Emergency services were called to reports of a van fire spreading to the hedge row alongside the Avon Causeway at 9.10pm.
A witness said: "A man was taken to hospital by a member of the public. He looked badly hurt."
The fire service initially responded to reports of a heath fire in Parley, but after investigating, they confirmed that the smoke originated from a vehicle fire in Hurn.
Speaking on Monday evening, a spokesperson for DWFRS said: "Crews have investigated, and at the moment, this appears to be smoke from a car fire we're also attending on the Avon Causeway near Hurn."
Firefighters from Springbourne, Christchurch and Ferndown fire station equipped with breathing apparatus used hose reels to extinguish the fire.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said the stop message was received at 7.45pm and a fire investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
A spokesperson for Ferndown Fire Station said: "This afternoon, control received multiple calls to a large smoke plume blowing over a local heath.
"On discovery, the source of the smoke turned out to be from a caravan fire parked in a nearby lay-by.
"This incident was being attended by Christchurch's 26P1, and we were fortunately able to render assistance to the crew by relaying much needed water."
