A Bournemouth eatery has been nominated in the 'Best Takeaway' category at a national food awards.

Chicken & Blues was included with seven others in the category as part of the British Restaurant Awards 2024.

The awards are now in their sixth year and promise to "leave an indelible mark on the food industry".

In a statement, they added: "In a celebration that promises to be bigger, bolder, and more delicious than ever, the BRA has pulled back the curtain on an extraordinary lineup of nominees across a delectable array of categories.

"From Best New Restaurant and Best Chef to Best Luxury Restaurant and Restaurant of the Year, the BRA nominations stand as a testament to the outstanding culinary prowess that graces every corner of the UK."

How has Chicken & Blues been received?

Chicken & Blues has locations in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, with its Bournemouth restaurant earning a 4.3/5 score on Google Reviews from 288 ratings.

The restaurant was created after founders Joshua Simons and Steve Crawford realised their mutual love of southern-style BBQ.

Its website adds: "In their view, the high street offering was somewhat lacklustre, and so they began quietly planning the development of the original Chicken & Blues (then Chicken Shack), introducing the locals to the wonders of mama’s cookin’!

"Sensing the time was right, the Boscombe shop was secured, and after multiple road-tests to friends and family, Chicken Shack (C&B) opened its doors, and was an instant hit with the locals!"

After that, they were able to open multiple stores around the area with the aim to "revolutionise the quick-serve high street chicken scene".

In terms of customer reviews, most are positive, with one sharing on Google Reviews: "The meals are tasty and presented in an interesting way. Very nice atmosphere of the place and pleasant to the ear blues music. Staff very nice and friendly as soon as you sit down at the table you are treated to well-chilled water. A place worth recommending."

They marinate their chicken in the most incredible seasoning, in my opinion it's best on its own or dipped in the homemade ranch sauce. The wraps are amazing as well.

"As an American living in Bournemouth, this is the closest I've found to authentic, home-cooked chicken and sides, very similar to my own grandmother's recipes! We'll be repeat customers for life!"
