A 17-CENTURY ship has docked on Poole Quay showcasing a floating museum with real life sailors.

The Galeón Andalucía has been brought to the town by the Poole BID and Poole Harbour Commissioners to draw in visitors and enrich the waterfront with history and culture.

The historic tall ship hosted its first event on July 30 for an invitee only tour and classic sea shanties sung by the Dorset Mutineers.

It presents over six decks displaying the history of the vessel as well as replicas of rooms aboard the ship.

The vessel houses 26 crew members who live and work on the ship full-time.

The Spanish Galleon will be open to the public from Wednesday, July 31 to Sunday, August 4.

Tickets can be booked online or bought dockside for viewings from 10am to 8pm.

The tall ship has already traversed over 70,000 nautical miles across the world’s oceans and will next set sail to the Netherlands on Monday.
