A ‘LOVING and caring’ woman was found unresponsive by her friend after staying overnight in her flat.

Christina Jean Boggs, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene after telling her friend the night before that she felt unwell.

An inquest held at Bournemouth Town Hall on August 1 heard a statement from Christina’s parents, Lisa and Derek Boggs.

“Christina was a troubled but very lovely girl who was loving, caring, sensitive and fiercely loyal with a great sense of humour,” they said.

It was heard that Christina had an eight-year-old daughter who she loved but was prevented from seeing.

“We love and miss her so much,” said Mr and Mrs Boggs.

Bob Morris, team leader at We Are With You, a support charity, said in a statement that Christina had been receiving treatment for her drug addiction since February 2020 but had been known to the service since 2012.

In February 2024 Christina was seen by a prescription nurse regarding her methadone prescription, which treats heroin dependency.

The nurse raised concerns of Christina’s risk of overdose due to the other drugs she was taking.

Mr Morris said that Christina wanted to “stop using and get her life back.”

Andrea Rowley, Christina’s friend, said Christina was homeless and sleeping in a tent in the days before her death.

However, at around 9pm on February 21 Christina came to Andrea’s flat on Poole Road seeking “a roof over head” after her tent was damaged.

Christina said she was feeling unwell, but was not withdrawing from drugs, and wanted to go to sleep.

Andrea went to her bedroom and did not return to the living room until 10.30am the next day where she found Christina unresponsive on the sofa.

She phoned the ambulance service, who talked her through resuscitation before paramedics arrived, but Christina sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

PC Alex Martin, a response officer at Dorset Police, said he found no evidence of foul play or drug paraphernalia in the flat.

Following her death, toxicologist, Rob Moore, said he found a regular level of methadone in Christina’s blood.

He added that metabolites of other drugs were found which suggests non-recent use.

A postmortem examination conducted by Dr Albadry concluded her medical cause of death to be respiratory depression from combined use of drugs and alcohol.

Assistant coroner for Dorset, Richard Middleton, concluded that Christina died from a drug-related death.
