FIREFIGHTERS from four different stations are currently tackling a heath fire in Wimborne.
Multiple appliances were used to extinguish the blaze at Holt Heath.
Fire crews were first alerted to reports of a fire at around 4pm.
A spokesperson for DWFRS said: “Several calls were received reporting an area of heathland alight on Holt Heath.
“Three pumping appliances, a water carrier, and two Land Rover pumps were mobilised. Crews attended from Wimborne, Verwood, Redhill Park, and Ringwood.
“Firefighters used six hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and are remaining in attendance to damp down the area.”
This fire comes just one day after an amber wildlife alert was put in place for Dorset.
An amber alert means that should a wildfire be started, it could spread quickly and easily due to the dry conditions.
The greatest risk is on large areas of open land, including heathlands, fields, and cliffsides.
