Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) volunteers at Mudeford held a special photo session on August 1 to mark the charity's 200th anniversary.

In a historic event titled 'One Moment for One Crew', the RNLI team - alongside supporters from the HM Coastguard, National Coastwatch Institution and others - gathered for an unforgettable group photo.

"We wanted a picture that reflects how much the Mudeford Lifeboat Station is an integral part of the community and how much the crew depend on the support and goodwill of so many people to continue their vital work, saving lives at sea," said Louise Adams, one of the event organisers.

The photograph, taken as close to 6.24pm as possible, echoed the year of the RNLI's founding.

Participants have submitted these photographs to an online portal for a montage image.

Tim Hewett, joint lifeboat operations manager at Mudeford RNLI, said: "It was a very special moment for all of us at Mudeford RNLI to be able to mark our 200th anniversary with our friends, family and colleagues in this photo."

Hewett added that the final montage will include images from all 238 RNLI lifeboat stations, all taken at the precise moment of 6.24pm, to commemorate the charity's founding year.

The photograph is set to feature in the RNLI's official archives.

The RNLI officially celebrated 200 years of its lifesaving operations on March 4 this year.

These anniversary celebrations have included a range of programs and events, with the 'One Moment for One Crew' photo event acting as a keen reminder of the charity's ever-growing community.

Anjie Rook, RNLI associate director overseeing the 200th-anniversary programmes, said: "During our 200th anniversary year we have been remembering our past, celebrating the lifesaving service we provide today, and aiming to inspire future generations of lifesavers and supporters.

"One Moment for One Crew is very much about celebrating the people of today’s RNLI and, we hope, inspiring those future generations who will take the RNLI into its third century of lifesaving."

The RNLI has provided an invaluable service since 1824, with its volunteer crews and lifeguards saving over 146,000 lives - an astonishing average of two lives saved every day for 200 years.
