A TEENAGE cyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash with a car. 

The male rider was cycling in Strouden Avenue, close to the roundabout with the entrance to Strouden Park, just before 10pm on Sunday, August 4. 

He was involved in a crash with a black Mercedes and sustained injuries police have described as “serious but not life threatening”. 

Meanwhile, road closures were put in place for more than an hour while emergency services dealt with the crash.

The cyclist was taken to Poole Hospital. 

Dorset Police’s spokeswoman said: “We received a report at 9.48pm on Sunday 4 August 2024 of a collision involving a car and a cyclist in Strouden Avenue in Bournemouth.  

“Officers attended with the ambulance service. The male cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are described as serious but not life-threatening.  

“Road closures were put in place. Recovery attended and road cleared at around 11.30pm.” 

South Western Ambulance Service added: "We were called at 9.45pm on Sunday 4 August to an road traffic collision in Bournemouth.

"We sent a double-crewed land ambulance and a critical care car to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Poole Hospital.”
