DORSET and Wiltshire Fire rushed to the scene of a car that had caught alight in a Poole church car park and have stated it believes the fire was deliberate.
A fire crew from Westbourne fire station were called to put out a car that had caught fire in St John's Church car park, Ashley Road, Poole at 5:45pm on August 4.
Once on scene, the crew used two hose reel jets and declared that they had referred the incident to Dorset Police after it believes the fire was started deliberately.
A spokesperson for DW Fire said: "We were called to Ashley Road, Poole at 5.45pm yesterday (4 August) for a car well alight.
"One crew from Westbourne attended and two hose reel jets were used. Our stop was at 6.18pm and the incident was referred to the police as we believe the fire to have been started deliberately."
Police have confirmed that it received a report from fire and attended the scene.
It has begun enquiries into the cause of the fire.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "At 5.47pm on Sunday 4 August 2024, we received a report from the fire service of a vehicle fire in Ashley Road in Poole.
"Officers have attended and enquiries are underway to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
