A CAR burst into flames after a two-vehicle crash in Corfe Castle, with the blaze spreading to nearby undergrowth.

Firefighters were called to New Road just before 11pm on August 5 after reports of a collision.

One crew from Swanage attended and found one car “well alight,” which was extinguished using a breath apparatus and two hose reel jets.

The occupants of both vehicles were able to get to a safe place before the fire service arrived and were put in the care of the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to New Road, Corfe Castle at 10.54pm last night (5 August) following a two vehicle road traffic collision.

“One crew from Swanage attended and found one of the cars well alight, so one breathing apparatus wearer and two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire.

“The occupants of the vehicles were in a safe place when we arrived and were in the care of the ambulance service.

“Our stop was at 11.44pm.”

Swanage fire station shared on social media: “One pump was sent to a car fire which caught alight following a 2 vehicle RTC.

“The fire, which also spread to nearby undergrowth, was extinguished using 2 hose reel jets and BA.

“Luckily everyone was out of both vehicles on our arrival and only suffered minor injuries.”
