A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital with a serious neck injury after he crashed his motorbike into an embankment trying to avoid a white van which then drove away.

Dorset Police were called to a report of a crash involving a van and a motorbike on Corfe Road near Corfe Castle at 9.15am on Friday, July 26.

The motorcycle reportedly crashed into the embankment after taking evasive action to avoid a white van.

The driver of the van then reportedly failed to stop at the scene.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 70s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious neck injury.

Now, officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any relevant footage to come forward following the fail-to-stop crash.

Police constable Rob Cook, of Wareham police, said: “An investigation is underway and we would like to hear from any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, who have not already spoken to police.

“I would also urge the driver of the white van to please do the right thing and get in touch with us so we can take your account of the incident.”
