A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after being caught red-handed breaking into a Tesco in Bournemouth.
Bournemouth police officers chased and arrested a man on suspicion of burglary after being called to a report of a break-in in progress at Tesco on Holdenhurst Road.
The man, who was said to have been wearing a balaclava, fled the scene when police arrived and the stolen times were later found discarded nearby.
Police later searched the man's home and found further stolen items from the store.
A spokesperson for Bournemouth Police said: "Officers from B Squad in Bournemouth were called to reports of a break in progress at Tesco, Holdenhurst Road.
On arrival, a male wearing a balaclava was seen jumping out of the window, before he fled from officers on foot. Officers gave chase and the male was caught shortly after, and arrested for suspicion of burglary.
"Items of alcohol, discarded by the male were located nearby."
"The subsequent search of his home address led officers to locate further stolen items from the store."
The stolen items included beer, cider, and washing detergent.
