POLICE have still not charged anyone after 13 vehicles were torched in neighbouring towns last year.
The cars were set alight across the Broadstone, Wimborne and Merley areas in the early hours of Monday, May 15, 2023 – nearly 15 months back.
A full investigation was launched and a local man aged in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of arson, but was later released on police bail.
His bail was due to expire mid-February, but has since been extended.
Giving an update on Thursday, a spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “The arrested man remains on police bail and our investigation is ongoing.”
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said it received more than 65,999 calls about the vehicle fires through the early hours of May 15.
The locations with reported arson incidents included Wentworth Drive, Oakley Road, Merley Way, Stour Walk, New Borough Road, Grove Road and Leigh Road.
Two properties were also affected by the fires.
