A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assault after hundreds turned out for a protest in Bournemouth.
Hordes of officers were seen across the Lansdowne area on August 7, during the protest, including those with video cameras.
A dedicated team of officers have been reviewing the footage taken throughout the protests in Bournemouth on August 7 and in Weymouth on August 4.
A 43-year-old woman from Bournemouth has now been arrested in connection with an incident during the protest activity in Bournemouth and remains in police custody under suspicion of criminal damage and common assault.
Assistant chief constable Mark Callaghan said: “We have been clear that while we will seek to facilitate safe and legal protest, we will not tolerate reports of criminal activity and public disorder.
“Our officers have been working tirelessly in recent days to keep the public safe and investigate any reported offences so those suspected of being involved are identified and dealt with robustly.”
A 38-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker in Weymouth, appeared at Poole Magistrates Court on August 7.
He is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on August 12.
