A FAMILY is pleading for information after their dog went missing in West Parley.
Steve Ford owns Bessie, a 14-year-old female black cocker spaniel along with two other dogs.
Bessie is described as grey around the muzzle with a few lumps and bumps, a bit deaf, and of normal weight.
The dog was reported missing from an area of Dudsbury guide camp, West Parley, on August 2, 2024.
His daughter, Sharon Abley said: “My dad lives at West Parley and he's got three spaniels.
"He walks them all at 5.30am every morning over near Dudsbury camp.
"He suddenly turned like a corner on their regular morning route and realised Bessie wasn't behind him.
“So he went and stood by like the tree that all three dogs sit out and wait for a treat for in the middle of the walk.
"She didn't turn up. The other two dogs didn’t indicate that anything was wrong so he searched for an hour and then he called me.
“Since then, we’ve been looking everywhere trying to find her, we’ve put posters up just hoping someone had a sighting.
“We've resigned ourselves to the fact that she's possibly not alive somewhere, but my dad just wants her back so he can have some closure.
“He’s 78 and dogs are his life. She is his permanent shadow."
Sharon added: “If you have got any information, just put a note through our doors.
“No repercussions, no judgments. We just want her back. If you have dumped her body somewhere, just let us know.”
The printed missing posters from the family read: “We have searched the area intensively for the last 24 hours, no sign or sound from her. Please keep your eyes open, she is chipped and wearing a collar with all my parents’ details on it. We just want her back, even if she is deceased.”
Drone searches have also been conducted in the search for Bessie.
