ARRESTS for shoplifting, alcohol seized from youths, and the confiscation of NOS canisters were among the incidents on the hottest day of the year.
PC John and PC Luke were patrolling Bournemouth town centre on August 12.
Within less than 200 metres, they arrested two people for attempted theft and public disorder offences.
During these arrests, one suspect assaulted PC John by spitting on him and was further arrested.
The policing duo then continued foot patrols in the town following reports of antisocial behaviour at the tennis courts in Bournemouth gardens.
Afterwards, they were dispatched to the beach, where a large group of young people had gathered with alcohol.
Several officers attended the scene, engaged with the youths, and seized their alcohol, pouring it away.
They also found and confiscated several NOS canisters. Possession of NOS with the intent to use it for recreational highs is an offence, and action will follow with youth services for those involved.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “These officers were on patrols today supporting the town due to the extra funding from the PCC to get more Officers out on foot patrols as part of this initiative during August.
“They have been positive and proactive and we have had an impact on ASB so our business and residential communities here in Bournemouth town centre will see lots of uniformed Officers out on foot patrols throughout this month.”
