MULTIPLE emergency services rushed to a fire in Bournemouth.

Fire engines from as far as Devizes in Wiltshire, attended the incident in Christchurch Road in Bournemouth.

A cordon was put in place while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Residents and businesses watched as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 12:23pm today with reports of a fire at Royal London House, Christchurch Road, Bournemouth. 

“Crews from Springbourne, Redhill, Westbourne, Wimborne, Christchurch, and Poole have been mobilised along with a support unit from Devizes. 

“On arrival of the first crews, a fire has been confirmed within the underground car park beneath the building involving a skip. 

“Two main lines and one hose reel jet are being used to extinguish the fire.”

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 12.26pm of a fire involving a skip in an alleyway near the Lansdowne Roundabout, between Holdenhurst Road and Christchurch Road.

“Officers have attended to assist the fire service a road closure has been put in place between the Lansdowne Roundabout and the St Swithun’s Roundabout on Christchurch Road.”
